Madeline

Sweet, sweet baby girl. Madeline was a BUTTON.  She was so tiny and her skin was pure silk. Such a beautiful baby, who loved cuddles. And I took every opportunity to pick her up for some. Big sister Phoebe is just as stunning, brown curls straight from heaven! Gorgeous girl, beautiful family xx

It still blows me away how babies have such a preference for certain things even at such a teeny age. Recently I had a baby who would wake up every single time her feet were exposed, she was NOT a feet girl!  Some babies dont care about being moved, some refuse and even fight me for some poses so I leave them be. Funny little creatures, newborn humans. Maddi was feisty! And so strong, and so strong willed. And so demanding… “I’m awake. HOLD ME. Hurry up! Not quick enough!!!”, whereas some babies will be awake and just look about. I wonder if they will continue these traits throughout their lives? Hmmm…. I need to go to bed. Getting all deep and philosophical being up this late!

Cupcakes Happenings

Things have been hectic to say the least. Getting into 2010 with 2 weddings straight up and a bunch of Sydney clients has been fun and BUSY!

Firstly I want to announce a change in my pricing structure, which now includes a minimum purchace of prints and will also include packages with discounts. This is how a lot of my city colleages structure their prints and packages and it works so well for them and their clients. These changes are effective immediately :) .

Secondly, I knew there would be a few people who would be interested in a small workshop with me, but when I announced this on the Facebook fanpage  it surprised me as to how much there really was!  I am yet to set a date, or get anything concrete but I am proposing a two day workshop here in Forbes. The first part will be purely *How to use, and get the most out of, your DSLR camera*. I have found that many people have these great cameras but have no idea on how to change settings away from Auto and get the most out of what the camera can do! I can teach you!  The second part will be me sharing some simple tips and techniques on how to shoot better photos of your family and any other interests. This will include child models and maybe even some good looking adults!

 I am aiming to ensure everyone gets the most out of these workshops that they possibly can!  I am by no means an expert of everything photography related but can teach you a thing or two sonny Jim! And you know, it has to be fun.

To get a better idea of interest, could you please send an email with your details to cupcakesphotography@gmail.com . It would also be very helpful for me to know your level of experience be it nothing or only a small something. It really doesnt matter, as its all about learning and experiencing and having a blast!

Catching up!

Needing to do a big blog to catch up, especially from Sydney clients who have been waiting patiently for their look!

First up, we have Bubby Charlotte. One of my best good friends’ 3rd baby. Is it just me or is there something just so very special about 3rd babies? She is delightful! And so chubby and just so happy. I wish I was closer to see her more… xx

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Second up, we have the delectable butterball A.K.A Adela. Oh my LORD. I love her, like I LOVE her. I loved her the first time I met her but I love her even more now. I actually want to kidnap her. She is actually a little dot but with lots of chubb. When she shared her sultanas with me I could have died. Sweet, sweet baby girl, can’t wait to see you again xx
Oh my God. This foot needs to be made into a marshmallow lolly-pop and sold to clucky women like me…
Love xx Little sausage fingers…
I met with Jackie at a moments notice, and I pretty much barged in and shot away. The poor girl did not have much time to prepare herself for portraits. And I have found that so so many women and couples havent had a professional photo of themselves since their wedding day so find it quite intimidating!  Her beautiful son Daniel is about to become a big brother to a sweet sister and it is so exciting. What a beautiful belly Jac! And a beautiful home…and couch. *LOVE*
And last, but by no means least, another best good friend Gemma has a new baby girl, Zari Lulu (Her brother Covey calls his sister ‘ZaZa’ – cute or what!). Gemma and I went to pre-school together!!! And got up to some mega antics in primary and high school and pretty much had the best times of our lives! To see my friend with her baby girl is so lovely, when your friends become mothers it so wonderful to see.
Amy + Joe
Their wedding was held this past weekend and I dont know where to start yet again!
Her gown, WOW. Simply spectacular! Her shoes were the best!! The ceremony was lovely but the real fun came when we did the location shots. Eat Your Greens provided not only the AMAZING food and service, but a beautiful backdrop for a majority of the photos. The grounds there are just so lovely and green and lush. The place was busting with flowers and the reception looked just breathtaking! We also headed out to the old abandoned church at just the right time – the light was drool worthy. We have such harsh light in Australia, especially out in the west where the sun is soooooooo bright. But when it goes down it is so lovely and fresh and the colour is beautiful. Perfect for wedding photos!
Thanks for having Anita and I guys, we had a great day!!!
Final check of make-up. Make Up by Blush The Face Place here in town, beautiful as always… Sarahs attention to detail is amazing. Watching her work on a face is like watching an artist paint!
Josh, their son, looks on and says “Mum! You look beautiful!!” as she appears as a Bride!
Pfwoooar!
Beautiful page boy, Josh is a total sweetie xx
Joe spots his bride!
Cranky flower-gril. Love it!!
Ahhhhhhh happy again! These two tag-teamed on the cranky faces!
Beautiful Emma xx
The flowers were spectacular. The most beautiful dusty-pink roses, beautiful…
Perfect setting…and sky!
The light! Drool!! Oh, the couple are gorge too!
My personal fave…
Yum, the cake was so lovely and YUMMO! I always have the cake at wedings, always always!
There’s always ONE lunatic relative and this wedding was no exeption. I am pretty sure it is Amys Aunt and she rocked it on the dancefloor!!! She was fantastic and got right into it!!! Loved her!
I am away until Monday. Mum, Eldest kid and I are off to Canberra to visit the National Gallery. Masterpieces of Paris – oh lordy! I am that excited, to be in the same room as a Gogh painting… eeeeeeeeeeek!! Loads to blog next week. ADELA for one, Ash, Jackie, Zari Lulu, anyone else I have forgotten and a wee babe from this week…
Dean, Heidi and Romi
Another gorgeous Sydney client, I have photographed Romi before when he was maybe around 2? I have known his Dad since I was a teen hangin with his siter Gem! Now at 3.5 he is so grown up and such a gorgeous little boy.
He loves skateboarding and can go all the way down the driveway without falling off! After an initial reluctance to get his photo taken, he finally came to the party and totally hammed it up for me. I was starting to get worried for a minute, but a change of scenery to the bay near their place was the trick to get Rom to warm to the idea of photos. I can see him skateboarding down to the beach in years to come, just like his Dad did. He already has the best tan, even on his little feet!! And that dimple….so cute!
So nice to see you guys, thanks for the Red Bull Deano!
Little girls, little girls, how I LOVE little girls!!
Ohhhhh I had FUN with these girls. Sarah and Hayley are 9, Amelie is 3 (fwee) and baby Eva is just on 2 months. Their Mum and I have been friends online for a while, since we were pregnant with our now 3.5 year olds.
We started in the shade of the park at the beach and they were all just the sweetest kids! They couldnt wait to get started, and I was in such a zombie mode from the day before (wedding) so I dragged myself off and we had the best time down on the beach and also up at the surf club…
It was SO windy, Eva was miserable! I was so worried I wouldnt be able to get any shots of her, the wind was just too much for her. We made our way down to the surf club and went inside to get out of the wind. She was so much happier out of the wind and I was so so pleased!! The lifeguards were packing up for the day, the sheds were filling up with buggies and boards and I just put a blanket down right next to a rubber-ducky boat and plonked Eva on it. She was a superstar, so so glad I got what I needed!
The things us photogs do for the perfect shot!! I wonder what those lifeguards were thinking when there is a wee baby on the concrete with a big camera in her face and my big butt sticking out while I leant over her!!!
Darby & Mel
What an amazing honour to have a childhood friend, Darby, ask me to do the wedding photography for his Palm beach wedding. I jumped (OK leaped) at the chance to spend this day with him and his stunning bride-to-be, Mel (I actually remember him telling me in year 9 that he wanted a girlfriend and she had to be a hottie! I think he married her!).
There are just so many beautiful things to say about the day, I really dont know where to begin! They have the most beautiful daughter, Elena, who I couldnt get enough of. She is such a perfect mixture of them both, and is so in love with her Mimmi (Darbys Mum). And at 22 months was a total ham.
The entire day was filled with so many personal touches, from Mels Korean-born mum finishing the fans for the maids, to each Darby and Mel speaking to eachothers Mums during the ceremony and the amazing bridal party filled with family and friends. Location shots were a hoot and we all had a lot of fun on the rocks at Palm Beach, and then over at the sea-plane wharf. It was all just so relaxed and EASY, everyone was great. How could locations like this disappoint???
The reception was loads of fun, having grown up in the area I knew a few of the guests so it was wonderful to catch up with everyone while working (errrr, even my old highschool science teacher!!). The speeches were out of this world, so heart-felt and so touching, and so so funny! At the end of his speech, Darby SANG to his brand new wife, ‘Peaches and Cream’ by John Butler and can I just say… no one has ever known Darby can sing!!! He was simply amazing and just briliant. Blew everyone away with this hidden talent, he was soooo good.  Not a dry eye in the house and when he finished the crowd just errupted. It was magic!
Darby and Mel, what can I say? I sit here typing while you are in Thailand (pffft, surely you needed a loco photog to document the trip???) and I am still pinching myself that I got this opportunity. Your daughter is a shining star and you both just ooooze love that is so very real and so beautiful. I am thriled for you, my friend Darby, that you have found the most amazing woman, and you Mel, the most amazing man. I wish you both a spectacular life together xx
—————————————————————————————————————————————————————-
Mels Mum, Yong, puts the finishing touches on the bridesmaids’ fans…
Mel making her bouquet, about oh, 30 minutes until we leave for the ceremony! Lunatic!
Elena helps Mummy pick the final music, about 15 minutes before I am due to leave!! Eeeeeeek!!
Mimmi helps Elena into the dress she made especially for today… very very special and just adorable. (And yes, you read right, this is Darbys Mum. She is simply exquisitely beautiful and looks like his slightly older sister!)
A special thankyou snuggle, so presh!
Maybe it was just me, but Darby was the most excited, happy, cheerful, joyful groom I have ever met. He smiled from ear to ear ALL day!
Little chicken, far too cute for it to be legal. She is all sorts of scrummy yummy toddler xx
I just adore this next image, who knows why as it is so technically all over the place, but I do. So there.
Home and Away image, it had to be done! “You know we belong to-geth-errrrrrr….”
Pure beauty, Mel is something else and a complete natural in front of the camera.
A bit of a different spin on those jumping shots, all Mels idea to do a heal-click jump and I tell you, I was in FITS looking at these. They look so funny, all they did was run and then jump on the count of three, but could not do it in time!
Wharf, love this image. Love love love.
Cons. Totally cool.
Love. LOVE!!!! The only thing Mel specified that she realllly wanted was some sunflare images. It was overcast one minute, bright the next, looking like stormy rain… so when the sun shone down I quickly snapped a few and we got them. Phew!
Darby announcing he will SING!
Mr Cool, he was awesome!!!!!!!!!
I had a great time away for the weekend, was so good to hang with some of my favourite people and eat Yum Cha and knuckle down and work hard. For all of those who remember my utter absession with Butter-ball Adela, I met with her again and she is just too much. Plus a gorgeous family of 4 girls, a beautiful belly shoot, a 4 week old baby girl and her 3 year old cousin the next day. Will blog these in the coming days while I rest for this weekends wedding!
Pippa – 8 days
Oh what a treat to meet with this sugar berry today. She was so sleepy and even did a few poses herself. What a beautiful baby girl, her skin was smooth as butter and she has the most darling baby hair. Cluck cluck – not loads of them do it to me but Pippa… she was simply divine!
Cutest Family ever!
I squeezed this shoot in from before Christmas – that is how slack I have been in January! Argh! Griffin and Ruby are the sweetest kids, and Mum and Dad are just the most beautiful parents. I loved spending time with these guys… We actually had two shoots as on the day of our first one Ruby was a bit over it. It was SO hot anyway, so we set of for a late afternoon shoot too. Beautiful light. And beautiful kids, that Ruby is a maniac!
Also putting it out there that I am on the hunt for a model or two for some intense portraits, ages 16 and up, boy or girl. You will get all files and prints for your time and it’ll only be 2 hours at most. I am after a specific ‘look’ so if you are interested, please contact me via the contact page and describe yourself!!
Tom – 3 weeks
Total cutie patootie, Tom was really alert and ready to party but really really happy to just laze about and get his photo taken. Soooo adorable and newborn lips to die for. This one is going to be a character for sure!
Am slowly getting back into the swing of things. I have two weddings booked this month so getting through the waiting list has been slow. But I am getting there and if you have contacted me about a session, please know you’ll hear from me soon! I hope to clear it by the end of March but we will see, there are so many of you! I am so so thankful for such amazing support!!!
